"Turkish Breakfast Bread "Simit" and so much More!" with Fatma Gurel, Saturday, August 19, 9:00-10:30am
Fatma Gurel grew up in Bolu, Turkey on a produce farm. She's been cooking since she was 13 and cooking is her passion. Join Fatma as she teaches you to make "Simit" a sesame coated breakfast bread. She'll teach you how to make, shape and bake this traditional bread. While the Simit is rising you'll make a traditional breakfast egg dish called "Menemen" which is served with sautéed aromatic vegetables. Fatma is bringing along Turkish tea and jams and we'll also have eski-kasar (turkish cheese similar to aged cheddar) and olives. This will be a true Turkish breakfast experience.
Fatma is the type person that shares her food with everyone. She even takes food to the farmers every Saturday at the Bishop Park Farmer's Market just to share her culture. So, come and gather around our communal table to drink a mimosa and treat yourself to a new recipe that you can take home to share with others.
