The Alentejo is Portugal's sun-baked interior — rolling plains of cork oak, olive trees, and vineyards stretching out between the Tagus and the Guadiana rivers. It's called the "pantry of Portugal" because everything grows abundantly here, and wine is no exception. The region produces some of the country's most characterful reds: ripe, warm, and full of personality, with the kind of tannin structure that comes from schist and granite soils baking in long, dry summers.

This 2019 is a classic Alentejo blend — Aragonez (the local name for Tempranillo) alongside Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet, each grape contributing something distinct. Aragonez brings the red-fruit core; Trincadeira adds spice and structure; Alicante Bouschet delivers the deep, almost inky color and dark-fruit intensity. The wine is aged long enough to round the edges, emerging with aromas of ripe black plum, dried fig, clove, and a whiff of tobacco. Full-bodied, with warm, grippy tannins and a long, earthy finish.

Pairs well with slow-roasted lamb, pork cataplana, grilled chouriço, or anything hearty enough to hold its own. Alentejo DOC, Portugal. 2019.
