Sebastien Besson | Beaujolais Villages
-for local Athens, GA pick-up only-
This fresh and vibrant red wine is produced by Sébastien Besson, based in the village of Lancié in the Beaujolais region of France. The estate, which has been in the Besson family for four generations, is known for its commitment to sustainable farming and traditional winemaking practices, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of their granite-filled soils.
Sébastien Besson Beaujolais Villages is made from 100% Gamay grapes, sourced from 35-year-old bush vines. The wine is fermented with native yeasts and undergoes a short maceration to highlight the bright fruit character of the Gamay grape. This wine is aged in stainless steel tanks, preserving its freshness and vibrant fruit flavors.
The wine showcases a deep ruby color with an aromatic bouquet of red berries, cherries, and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it offers juicy flavors of raspberry, tart cherry, and a touch of violet, balanced by lively acidity and soft tannins. The wine’s light-to-medium body and playful character make it an ideal choice for any occasion.
Pairings
This versatile Gamay pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including charcuterie, grilled poultry, and roasted vegetables. Its bright fruit profile and balanced acidity make it an excellent match for light pasta dishes, soft cheeses, and casual gatherings. Enjoy it slightly chilled for an added touch of refreshment. -AO
