Les Georges | 2022 Chinon
Sébastien named this cuvée "Les Georges" in honor of his ancestors — nearly every one of them was named George, and as it turns out, so is he. It's a warm, family-forward way to introduce one of the most approachable wines from Château du Petit Thouars, a historic estate that has been farming Cabernet Franc along the Vienne River in Chinon since the 17th century.
Les Georges is made entirely from free-run juice — the juice that flows from the grapes before pressing, which gives you the freshest, most vibrant expression of the fruit. The grapes come from the estate's younger vines and are vinified and aged in stainless steel to keep everything clean and aromatic. The result is textbook Chinon at its most immediate: inky ruby, with lifted aromas of violet, fresh black cherry, red currant, and a streak of graphite. Medium-bodied, with precise tannins and that characteristic Chinon freshness.
Drink it slightly cool (60°F), with charcuterie, duck confit, braised pork shoulder, or roasted root vegetables. Chinon AOC, Loire Valley, France. 2022.
