Maury Fagayra Blanc 2022
From one of the Roussillon's most compelling estates: the Terres de Fagayra, named for the remote hamlet in the Maury hills where Marjorie Gallet farms a collection of old vines — some over a century old — of Macabeu, Grenache Blanc, and other indigenous Roussillon varietals. While Maury built its reputation on fortified vin doux naturel, Gallet makes dry wines of extraordinary depth and originality. The Fagayra Blanc 2022 is mineral, savory, and utterly unlike anything else from Southern France: oxidative hints, beeswax, stony white fruit, and a focused, lingering finish. A reference-point wine for the new Roussillon.
