Immich-Batterieberg | Riesling [dry] kabinett "CAI"
-for local Athens, GA pick-up only-
This vibrant and mineral-driven Riesling is produced by Immich-Batterieberg, one of the oldest estates in the Mosel region of Germany. Winemaker Gernot Kollmann, known for his minimalist approach and dedication to organic viticulture, has crafted a wine that beautifully reflects the steep, slate-laden slopes of the Mosel.
The "C.A.I." Riesling Kabinett is named in honor of Carl August Immich, the founder who dynamited the steep hills to plant vines, giving birth to the estate’s unique terroir. This dry Kabinett showcases a pale golden color with greenish highlights and an aromatic bouquet of green apple, apricots, and citrus, complemented by a distinct slate minerality. On the palate, it offers a crisp, saline texture with flavors of stone fruit and vibrant acidity, leading to a clean, refreshing finish. Despite its lower alcohol content, this wine is full-bodied and complex, making it a standout example of Mosel Riesling.
Pairings
This Riesling is a versatile food companion, pairing beautifully with spicy dishes such as Thai curries or Szechuan cuisine, where its acidity cuts through the heat and richness. It's also a great match for fresh seafood, pork dishes, or even a simple picnic spread of cured meats and cheeses. Its lively nature also makes it a delightful aperitif, perfect for starting any meal with a crisp, refreshing note. -AO
