WHO: Division Winemaking Company is an urban winery launched in 2010 in Portland, Oregon Kate Norris and Thomas Monroe. Their shared passion for wine led them to Beaujolais, France, where they honed their viticulture and enology skills while developing a deep appreciation for sustainable farming and minimalist winemaking. This experience formed the cornerstone of their philosophy at Division Winemaking Company, which they established upon returning to the United States.

WHAT: This Syrah offers a delightful blend of aromas, with hints of oak, lightly toasted cardamom, clove, heather, and bramble. When you take a sip, you'll notice a touch of leather, giving it an old-world charm. The wine is smooth and easy to drink, thanks to the addition of a little Viognier during fermentation and a few weeks of skin contact to soften the tannins. It’s aged in a mix of new, neutral, and stainless barrels to keep it fresh while adding some structure from the oak. Plus, it’s made with organic grapes.

WHERE: This wine comes from a region known for producing high-quality Syrah, crafted by winemakers dedicated to creating something special.

PAIRINGS: The 2016 Gamine Syrah pairs wonderfully with roasted lamb, grilled sausages, or a hearty beef stew. For a vegetarian option, try it with rich mushroom dishes or a flavorful ratatouille. It also goes great with aged cheeses, making it a versatile choice for many meals.
