Champagne Christian Gosset | "A04" Grand Cru Rosé
-Local Athens Pick-up Only-
Christian Gosset, a fifth-generation vigneron, established his own Champagne house in 2015 after decades of experience in his family's historic estate. His approach emphasizes minimal intervention and sustainable practices, focusing on the expression of terroir through Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Grand Cru vineyards in Aÿ and Chouilly.
Grape Variety & Terroir: The 'A04' Grand Cru Extra Brut Rosé is a blend of 87% Pinot Noir from Aÿ in the Vallée de la Marne and 13% Chardonnay from Chouilly in the Côte des Blancs. The base wine is from the 2020 harvest, with 10% red wine vinified in oak barrels added to enhance color and complexity. The wine undergoes over 30 months of aging on the lees, resulting in a dosage of 3 g/L, classifying it as Extra Brut.
Flavor Profile: This Champagne offers intense and expressive aromas of red fruits, mushrooms, fresh cream, and candied raspberries. On the palate, it is structured with a long, vinous finish, complemented by creamy, velvety bubbles and lively acidity. The wine's complexity is enriched by umami nuances, making it versatile for various culinary pairings.
Pairings: The 'A04' Grand Cru Extra Brut Rosé pairs excellently with a range of dishes, including sushi, roasted poultry, and rich fish like salmon and tuna. Its aromatic profile and balanced acidity make it suitable for both light appetizers and more substantial main courses.
