Champagne A. Bergère | les Clos Extra Brut 2018
-Local Athens Pick-up Only-
The Bergère family has cultivated vines in the Vallée du Petit Morin since 1848. In 1949, Albert Bergère founded Maison Bergère to better promote the family's terroir. Today, Adrien and Annaëlle Bergère continue this legacy, focusing on sustainable practices and minimal intervention to express the unique character of their vineyards.
Grape Variety & Terroir: The 2018 les Clos Extra Brut is 100% Pinot Meunier. The grapes are sourced from the clay-limestone soils of the Petit Morin Valley, known for their ability to impart complexity and depth to the wine.
Vinification & Aging: After manual harvesting, the wine is aged on its lees for several years, enhancing its complexity and mouthfeel. The vinification is completed in oak barrels. The dosage is kept low, classifying it as Extra Brut, to highlight the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir.
Flavor Profile: On the palate, this cuvée is distinguished by its elegant structure and aromas of white fruits. The clay-sand soil gives the wine a delicate freshness and a well-balanced acidity, offering a tense finish and a beautiful verticality.
Pairings: This Champagne pairs well with a variety of dishes, including pork, poultry, rich fish like salmon and tuna, spicy foods, and mild cheeses. Its aromatic profile and balanced acidity make it versatile for different culinary experiences.
