"Chinese Dumplings," with Chef Alejandro Ortiz, Wednesday, May, 8, 6:00pm-8:00pm

You asked for it so Chef Alejandro Ortiz of Pinta Kitchen is back and he's going to teach you how to make Chinese Dumplings (and more.) Chef Ortiz is a master at dumplings and excited to share his knowledge, tips and recipes with you during this hands-on class. Here's a little write up from Chef Alejandro...

"In 2008, I was involved in the opening of Aman at the Summer Palace in Beijing (luxury hotel) and while there I found myself bonding with the staff of the hotel’s traditional Chinese restaurant as they rolled out, stuffed, and pleated hundreds of dumplings for Sunday’s bountiful Dim Sum brunch. The ‘dumpling ladies’ who came in only once a week to make them for Sunday brunch, took their time and patiently taught me how to make the wrappers, the various stuffings, and the myriad sauces that are part of the lexicon of dumpling-making and, my favorite, dumpling-eating."

The lesson on *pork dumplings includes making the dough, rolling and shaping and putting together a *pork filling. These dumplings will be served with an asian salad with ginger sesame dressing that you'll put together. 

*ground chicken can be subbed for pork if you can't eat pork- please let us know under the allergies sign up if you can't eat pork
